a room for visiting hours
when cells are replaced every minute
There must be a reason why we have vases and figurines kept in glass dressers, or why the cleaners are only permitted to scour deserted corners and gaps, and why some rooms are left unscathed, fastened. Some believed a phantom lurked the spaces – especially the one with the locked doors – and they grabbed your wrist before you got to touch an item.
But I have visited his room numerous times. No one grasped my hand, nor was there anything to prove that someone was watching over me. I kept closing doors and rubbing porcelain wares -- the child in me believed that you would appear like a genie. I have visited numerous times just to see if I could meet you in your room.
Hold my hand if you can, hold my hand if you will.
